Former School of History PhD student, Shannyn Palmer (supervised by Maria Nugent and affiliated with the Research Centre for Deep History) was awarded the Chief Minister’s Northern Territory History Book Award in July 2023. Based on her thesis, Unmaking Angas Downs: Myth and History on a Central Australian Pastoral Station (Melbourne University Press, 2022) was judged an “absorbing exploration of the dual history of Angas Downs, providing a brilliant analysis of the duality of Aboriginal history-making in terms of place, and non-Aboriginal in terms of time.” Hearty congratulations to Shannyn for her excellent scholarship and collaborative research.
