Sue Wah Chin and family, 1955, Library and Archives NT, PH0553/0105

In collaboration with the School of Culture, History & Language (CHL), the National Centre of Biography presents the free exhibition Asia-Pacific Lives as part of CHL's annual flagship multicultural festival and showcase program, Immersia.

Drawing on the many volumes of the Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB) – the nation’s premier biographical reference tool, in production since 1959 – Asia-Pacific Lives showcases some of the individuals whose stories reveal the myriad connections between Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

From a Chinese businesswoman and matriarch to a Tongan Methodist minister and Pacific Islands historian, this exhibition will introduce visitors to just some of the fascinating, little-known, and important people whose lives are captured in the ADB.

Running 9-23 September.
