Europa Policy Lab: Which Degree of Integration Between Science and Public Policy? Food Safety in France

This Europa Policy Lab is presented with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Promoted as a guarantee of neutrality and rigour, the dissociation between the risk assessment and risk management phases has an impact on the effectiveness of risk and safety public policies. It is certainly necessary to distinguish in their roles and functions the actors allocated to these two phases. However, it would be a misconception to believe that the questions of expertise are neutral and have no impact on risk assessment, management and governance.

Professor Merad will discuss integration between science and public policy on the example of food safety regulations in France.
