Speaker:  Tom Dougherty

Social scripts specify the normal way for people to interact in certain situations. For example, a social script for a restaurant conversation explains why the world over, these conversations take a similar form. I will discuss what social scripts are, how they shape people’s behavior, and how they can be oppressive, e.g. by leading people to voluntarily take part in sexual encounters that they would ideally like to avoid.

Please note that these seminars are open to the public and in person only.
