ANU Philosophy student Zhihe (Vincent) Zhang has been selected to participate in the Open Student Workshop on Global Priorities Research, organised by the Global Priorities Institute (GPI) at the University of Oxford. This highly prestigious and competitive program selects its participants based on academic merit and potential, making it a real honour to be selected to be part of the program.

Global Priorities Research investigates the question What should we do with our limited resources, if our goal is to do the most good? This question has close connections with central issues in philosophy and economics, among other fields.

During the four-day event, Zhihe will attend the 12th Oxford Workshop on Global Priorities Research (19-20 June 2023), an interdisciplinary workshop organised by GPI and will be able to receive personalised 1:1 career- and research-coaching from GPI staff members as well as other members of the global priorities research community; attend presentations and discussions on global priorities research, career planning and experiences in academic research; and participate in networking and social events at Oxford University.

The Global Priorities Institute is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Oxford. Their aim is to conduct foundational research that informs the decision-making of individuals and institutions seeking to do as much good as possible. They use the tools of multiple academic disciplines, especially philosophy and economics, to explore the issues at stake. GPI will cover the costs for travel and accommodation for the duration of this event.
