This August NCB director Professor Melanie Nolan was invited to take part in a workshop on 'Biographical and Microhistorical Perspectives on History’ in Norway. Hosted at Volda University College, the workshop investigated biography combined with microhistory as a methodological approach to writing history. Her presentation was titled 'Microhistory: historians playing with the scales of history’. On her return Melanie reported that it was a terrific workshop with welcoming hosts and great papers from participants including from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
