The School of Demography is delighted to announce that the Charles Price Prize in Demography has been jointly awarded to Meg Kingsley and Kim Xu. The Prize recognises the best PhD thesis each year and Meg and Kim’s theses contributed outstanding research in the field.

Meg’s thesis focused on the relationship between work and family conflict and outcomes for children in Australia.

Kim’s thesis examined the important aspects of Chinese marriage which make a major contribution to understanding the roles of cultural and institutional factors in affecting marriage and family patterns in Chinese society.

The Prize is named in honour of Dr Charles A Price who for many years was a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Demography at ANU.

Hearty congratulations to Meg and Kim for their major contributions to and distinguished work in the field of Demography.
