Monday 9 September 2024

On Friday 6 September the winners of the NSW Premier's History Awards were announced at the State Library of New South Wales. We were thrilled to learn that Dr Shauna Bostock was awarded the NSW Community and Regional History Prize for her book Reaching Through Time: Finding my family’s stories (Allen & Unwin).

The judges praised Reaching Through Time for offering 'a compelling blend of Indigenous history, community history and the history of colonial settlement'. They summed it up as 'an investigation of a complicated history told by a narrator who refuses to indulge in false resolutions and who presents harsh realities without bitterness, but rather with a mix of hungry curiosity, regret and hope'. You can read the full judges' citation here.

Congratulations Shauna on this amazing achievement!
