On 31 May – 1 June, 2022, the ANU School of Sociology and the ANU Gender Institute held the "Gender Studies Symposium" initiated by Professor Melinda Cooper (Convenor of the Gender, Sexuality and Culture Major) and Professor Fiona Jenkins (Convenor of the ANU Gender Institute).

The in-person event brought together ANU students working in the general area of gender, feminist, and queer studies. The Symposium had a strong representation from the ANU School of Sociology. The speakers included Rachel Aalders, Jessie Liu, Isabel Mudford, Tate McAllister, Simon Copland, Inga Koralewska and Weifeng Tao.
