Workshop on Multidimensionality

Justin D'Ambrosio presenting at the workshop

Monday 19 June 2023

Multidimensional concepts are everywhere, and they play key roles in almost every area of philosophy, as well as other disciplines. Examples include democracy, moral value, consciousness, and biodiversity. They raise a host of important questions: Can we measure democracy and biodiversity? How can we aggregate different values to decide which policies are overall best? Can there be borderline cases of consciousness?

The Workshop on Multidimensionality, hosted by the School of Philosophy, brought together researchers thinking about multidimensional concepts from a variety of different angles. Speakers included: Brian Hedden (ANU), Daniel Munoz (UNC), Ava Geenen (UNC), Andrew Lee (ANU), Justin D'Ambrosio (St. Andrews), and Paul Egre (Institut Jean Nicod).
