Dear demographers,

Warm congratulations to Brian Houle and Edith Gray for their success in securing that juicy ARC linkage grant! This project aims to provide an exemplar model of Indigenous data governance for the Anindilyakwa people in Groote Eylandt.  Expected outcomes include enhanced Anindilyakwa self-determination, and new best practice knowledge for implementing such platforms elsewhere—providing a potential model for other First Nations communities across Australia.

We also celebrate James Raymer and Edith Gray for the launch of Poplab: a great initiative that will bring many positive outcomes for the School! (more information below).

The ANU School of Demography did it again! With a big contingent of presenters at the APA and DEMO-ECR Symposium in Adelaide (November 19 to 21), and the other APA in Kathmandu (November 27-30).

Have a very well-deserved summer break. Please make sure to disconnect, and recharge, to be ready for one of the most exciting years for Australian Demography with the IUSSP 2025 conference.

Cordially,
Vladimir
